In this project, we attempt to deconstruct and codify the formation of space by the manipulation of natural and artificial light sources. We develop a visual language to measure and express the characteristics of various arrangements of light, from the visual cues of linear arrangements to the expansion of space by revealing a flat surface as a volume of light. We in turn utilize that language to propose a design for an office tower at the corner of Dey and Broadway, meeting both the practical requirements of the project while also utilizing the language to inform the utility of the spaces created through the manipulation of natural and artificial light at the project site.
